It’s always exciting to refresh and reorganize a room, making older furniture feel like new once again. However, each time you move furniture, you probably notice those unsightly indentations left behind in your carpet or area rugs. What can be done?
Removing Furniture Indentions
At times, carpet fibers will return to their original position on their own as your carpet backing and pile re-acclimate. But for those more stubborn indentations, action on your part may be needed. Here are a couple of simple tips you can put into action:
- Vacuum and lightly brush the affected area.
- Lay a damp towel over the spot and apply an iron for a few seconds. Follow with light brushing of the fibers while they are still warm and relaxed.
Things to Keep in Mind
The above noted steps are especially effective on natural fibers carpets. If your carpet is commercial grade olefin, the indentations may be permanent. Professional carpet cleaning can also aid in removing carpet indentations as we use high powered steam and heat to treat the affected areas.
