Upholstery Spotting Tip – Pet Spots

Prior to treating any pet contamination spots, it is important to test the spotting method in an inconspicuous area so see how your fabric responds. If you see any change in the original color of the fabric or if a water ring forms upon drying, discontinue spotting and call our office for further assistance.

There are many over the counter spotters on the market touting their abilities to effectively treat pet urine. But beware! Many of these spotters will cause more harm than good to your upholstered furniture. Based on our 50 plus years of experience and research, we have found the most effective and safest spotter on the market to be Folex. This amazing, residue free spotter can be purchased at our office or from one of our technicians during your next carpet, upholstery or area rug cleaning. In case of emergency, you can also find it at most hardware or grocery stores.

Treating Pet Contamination:

1. Blot excess moisture from the spot.
2. Lightly blot with cool water.
3. Moisten a clean white cloth with water & lightly spritz with a 50/50 mixture of Folex and Rubbing Alcohol.
4. Gently blot the fabric being cautious to not rub or fray the material.
5. Let dry.

These steps can be repeated as necessary until the spot and odor are fully removed.
