Myth#5: Too Much Cleaning Ruins Your Carpet

Myth #5

Damage Debunked

Last week we went over the importance of getting your carpets cleaned no matter how new they are. This next myth is comprehensive and is one of the most popular myths we’ve heard.

Myth #5: “Too much cleaning ruins the carpet. It shrinks the carpet, or it makes my carpet get dirty faster.”

Okay, let’s break this one down.

  1. Too much cleaning –  Truthfully, modern advancements produce carpet that is more resistant and resilient than ever. Today’s cleaning technologies are more efficient and effective. Both these facts verify that your carpet is not in any danger from professional cleaning, or even frequent vacuuming. The methods used by Preferred Carpet Care are gentile to your carpet, while still aggressive in removing unwanted particles. In fact, regular professional carpet cleaning extends the life and look of carpet.
  2. Carpet shrinking – This could happen back when carpets were made of natural fibers, and carpet cleaners didn’t dry them properly. Today, however, many carpets are made with synthetic fibers, so shrinking is nearly impossible. If you do have carpet with natural fibers, it may need special care to avoid shrinking or other complications all of which we are experienced to handle.
  3. Getting dirty faster – If your carpet seems to get dirty quickly after it’s cleaned, that simply means it was not cleaned properly in the first place. Too much water or chemicals can lead to buildup of bacteria, mold or mildew, or even bleaching the color of the fabric. Using the wrong chemicals or mixtures might leave a residue that attracts dirt and grime instead of removing it.

That’s why it is so important to have well-trained, educated and certified professionals (like Preferred Carpet Care) clean your carpets for you. We know the right mixtures for all the components, and how to keep them at proper levels through the process. We know how to dry your carpets effectively and preserve their look and feel. We know what factors to consider because of our experience.
