Myth #4: My Carpet is Too New to be Cleaned

How Soon to Clean New Carpet

You’re Never Too Young

Last week we talked about the pitfalls of purchased or rented equipment versus professional carpet cleaning. This week will talk about newer carpets.

Myth #4: “My carpet is less than a year old. It doesn’t need cleaning.”

Perhaps your carpet salesman led you to believe that you won’t have to worry about any cleaning for years to come when you purchased your new wall to wall carpeting. It probably sounded almost too good to be true. It is.

New carpet is designed to hide stains and dirt particles – the key word is hide. Those particles are still there. In fact, it’s possible that particles from the manufacturing plant or warehouse might still be in your carpet. Many leading manufacturers list a recommendation in their warranty details to have your new investment professionally cleaned within two years for your warranty to be honored.

If you wait until your new carpet looks dirty, well, by that time it has already reached a level of filthiness that the carpet simply can’t hide anymore. Not only that, but the invisible particles that have been building up in your carpet for the last year easily damage the fibers of your carpet. At that depth, a vacuum cleaner is not enough to remove all the particles.

Since the look of your carpet can deceive you as to how clean it really is, experts recommend a professional carpet cleaning every six to twelve months – much like dental checkups. Preferred Carpet Care is ready to help you with that schedule. Like your dentist, we will even call you with a reminder when it’s time for the next carpet checkup.

Contact our team of Redding carpet cleaning experts today to schedule a complimentary estimate or cleaning. We will evaluate the needs of your particular household and can make personalized recommendations on proper maintenance.

Next week, we will cover one of the biggest carpet cleaning myths of all. Stay tuned until next week to find out.
