Myth #3: DIY Carpet Cleaning vs. Professional Carpet Cleaning

DIY Carpet Cleaning

The Dangers of DIY

Last week we discussed the myth of deodorizers, and why it’s important to keep them off your carpet. This week let’s discuss another potential danger to the health of your carpet and home.

Myth #3: “I rented/purchased a carpet cleaning machine, so I don’t need professional cleaning.”

Well, in an age of DIY television shows and YouTube tutorials, purchasing or renting a commercial cleaner from a store might seem like a good idea. However, due to a variety of laws, regulations and restrictions, you simply cannot get adequate equipment through retail options.

Retail machines simply do not have enough power to retrieve all the water they soak into your carpet, leaving behind a soggy source for mold and mildew. They try to compensate by using extra chemicals in their cleaning solutions. These harsh solutions often cause damage as they clean. Any rental equipment you acquire has probably been through quite a few houses before yours, taking untold use and abuse, and are not maintained by their owners on a regular basis. And, to be honest, there’s always something to be said for proper knowledge, training and experience when cleaning your carpets.

Preferred Carpet Care maintains our heavy-duty, top-notch equipment daily. Our cleaning and drying equipment has more than enough power to remove the moisture we use to release any dirt and grime deep within your carpets. We also maintain our training and expertise in the latest methods and techniques to clean your carpet with the best possible care. If you’d like to know more about what cleaning solutions we use, feel free to give us a call or check future entries in this blog for more details.

For next week, however, we will continue our series and discuss the myth of youth.
