Auto Cleaning

In a recent article, we discussed (or should we say “covered”) certain indications that your home’s upholstery needs attention. But what about your automobile upholstery? Why should this fabric also receive regular maintenance? Our experts provide the answers.

Neglected Fabrics

Now, you likely take your car to a car wash, where they’ll wash off the outside and vacuum out the inside. But in today’s fast-paced multitasking world, the typical parent will eventually swing through a drive through to get food for the kids, and maybe themselves.

When you are a passenger trying to eat something in a moving vehicle, accidents happen – the burger squirts mustard, or you lose grip on a French fry and it falls under the seat where you can’t get to it. Maybe the soda cup lid pops off just as the car hits a bump. What if it’s a chocolate shake? What a waste! Even more so, however, is the stain they create when things like these hit the seats and carpet of your car. You can’t clean them while driving – not effectively. All you can do is mop up the excess with whatever napkins you have and hope a stain doesn’t set.

But invariably, it does set. Well, that’s what floor mats are for, right? No, don’t think like that! That stain was made by food, which could eventually bring mold, mildew or bacteria. Of even worse, what if good old fluffy has an accident on the way to the park? That stain needs to come out, not just mopped up or covered over.

Preferred Carpet Care uses their expertise, skill and professional equipment to keep the carpet and upholstery in your home fresh and clean.  The great news is, they use the same high-end resources to remove the dirt, grime and stains from the floorboards and seats of your family chariot.

Your Second Home

If it helps, think of your car as an extension of your home. For many of us, it practically is. So, how do you treat your home carpets? You vacuum them regularly, treat stains as soon as you can, and schedule a professional cleaning with Preferred Carpet Care every six months or so. Well, consider treating your car’s interior the same way.

Maybe you don’t need to wash the outside every week, and that’s perfectly fine. But try vacuuming out the inside on a weekly basis at least, looking for anything that fell into the nooks and crannies when you didn’t notice. It will give you an opportunity to find any spots or stains that have developed. Like you do with your house carpet, schedule a visit from Preferred Carpet Care to address those stains.

Of course, there are cleaning solutions on the automotive market, specially designed to take out tough stains from vehicle fabrics. However, not all these solutions work as advertised – much like carpet cleaners on the market today. And there are plenty of DIY videos on the internet to show you how to remove stains in your car upholstery, but many of them do not end with the same results for you as shown in the video.

Consider this instead: call Preferred Carpet Care or schedule an appointment online. We can discuss your issue and provide recommendations. If you already have an appointment with us to clean your carpet, we can take a quick look at your car upholstery and maybe provide an estimate, right there on the spot (or stain). If you’d prefer, we can even schedule your car upholstery cleaning every six months or so, just like your carpet. And why not? After all, your home carpet and the interior of your car deserve to look their best, whatever the circumstances.
